  1. I saw the image and thought maybe it was some kind of manga reading challenge. The image is from the anime Howl's Moving Castle. Ok, geek off. :D

  2. LOL! Yes, the image is from the Miyazaki film production of Howl's Moving Castle. I actually don't watch a lot of anime but we are big fans of Hayao Miyazaki films in my house. My Neighborhood Totoro is probably my favorite, although perhaps one of the least profound. Anyway, orannia has used that image for her Big Book Challenge for the last couple of years. She says she chose the image because of Howl's seven league boots which allow the wearer to take big steps... which we need to do to read these big books! ; )

But boy did I stumble across the PERFECT challenge for YOU! Check this one out:

  3. I should have joined that challenge last year! I would have done well with A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness- it's 572 pages. I LOVED that book. Maybe you might try it for your 2013 challenge? *g*
    BEst if luck this year!

  4. Ah ha! See? You should join this year! What about the new Christopher Paolini book?

I should definitely consider A Discovery of Witches for 2013. I remember you speaking highly of it .. and a few other readers, too! Thanks for the suggestion.

  5. Chunksters!! I need to get back to the Outlander series. Love the characters but the last two dragged for me, and when they're 800 + pgs that can be rough.

    Good luck

@Christina - what Christine said :) I must confess to watching the film around the time I conceived the Big Book Challenge, so I just had to use that photo :)

Mariana, good luck with Inheritance! 900+! yikes! I thought I might read Brisngr last year for my challenge, but I don't know if I feel like reading that series anymore. I don't know.. maybe I will someday.
