What's Your reading personality?

I found this quiz at The Book Binge.
I am the Eclectic Reader:

You read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You're open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors.

I suppose there is some truth to that. I honestly expected to get the Serial Reader because I am a self proclaimed series junkie.  If I start a series, I feel strongly compelled to read ALL the books and IN ORDER.  There are a few series that I'm going to try to break from. Emphasize try.  Feehan's Carpathian Series is one--I love the books, but they are getting a bit repetitiv. I'm waiting for Dimitri and Skyler's story...  Then there is Kenyon's Dark Hunters.  I might try to make the break after Acheron.  Or maybe Stryker's book.  Oh wait! I really want to read Nick's story.  I hope he doesn't get killed off before he's redeemed and gets to live happily ever after... And we won't even discuss the crack that is the Black Dagger Brotherhood. See?  I'm just too easily addicted.

Oh! And remember the review I did of Lisa Renee Jones' first novel in her Harlequin Nocturne White Knights series? The one I gave a C+ to barely six weeks ago? The one in which I said I probably wasn't going to pick up the rest of the series?  Wellllll... I took advantage of eharlequin's 30% Spice novels to buy Megan Hart's Dirty and Broken, but needed to buy a few more books to make the free shipping. (I'm not the only one who does this, I'm sure). So the second and third books in Lisa's White Knights series were discounted a few bucks, so I caved and bought them.  I was still like two bucks shy of the free shipping mark, so I also bought Sex, Straight Up and Nightcap by Kathleen O'Reilly. I would have completed that 'series' with Shaken and Stirred, but it was sold out. I'll have to find that somewhere else. See? Total series junkie.

So what kind of reader personality are you?

  1. I got ""All-Rounder Reader" Apparently I am falling in the middle of all four categories (how typical of me to be in the "other" column... hehe).

Guess it's true. I'll read anything and anyone at least once. But my reading tastes have been narrowing a bit lately. Some nice people *coughdikladiescough* have been steering my reading more into romance lately.

  2. I am an all-rounder reader too. I posted my results.

That was a fun quiz. Thanks for posting it :).

  3. Yup, me too. I fit equally into all four categories.

  4. Hi Christine!

your Cyborg name's totally cooler than mine! lol.

I took the quiz and I'm a "All-rounder Reader" too.

Involved Reader: You don't just love to read books, you love to read about books. For you, half the fun of reading is the thrill of the chase (lol!) - discovering new books and authors, and discussing your finds with others.
Exacting Reader: You love books but you rarely have as much time to read as you'd like - so you're very particular about the books you choose.
Serial Reader: Once you discover a favorite writer you tend to stick with him/her through thick and thin.
Eclectic Reader: You read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You're open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors.

    Sounds about right. :)

  8. LOL, I guess a lot of us are either eccentric (which is rather a norm IMO) or "all-rounder."

Series are hard to quit that way. I think a few of the long standing ones, I dragged on about three to four books before I gave it quits. Eh...addictive.

  9. It's hard to quit a series! I think because you have something invested in it. For me, it's like, if I dump a series, it's like I'm consciously rejecting it, whereas if i'm simply not interested in a book, I ignore it. It's easier to ignore a book than to reject one where you have a certain involvement. At least, that's my theory on why I have Lover Enshrined sitting here.

  10. So jumping on the bandwagon with all-rounder reader...

  11. Your responses showed you fitting into two different groups - the involved reader, and the exacting reader (sometimes better described as the busy reader!) This is a challenging combination because on the one hand you love to know as much as you can about the world of books, but, on the other, your time is limited.

So that is me! It was quite the fun to make this one. I will so post on my writing blog! Weee!

  12. You are so advanced! I am so impressed you are on twitter and everything else.

  13. I'm a series girl, too, but I've gotten a LOT better lately about quitting while I'm still ahead.

I haven't read a Carpathian book in ages (though I really want to read Skyler's book) and I stopped Ward's and Kenyon's, but sometimes it's so hard to let go...

    *sigh*

I'm kind of feeling left out of the "all-rounder" group. *sniffle*

  14. Eclectic Reader here too, but I kinda thought that from the description you posted.

Saw the title to your latest blog when I was at Jaci Burton's blog and had to come try the quiz. :)

  16. Hi Melani! Welcome to my blog. I'm glad you stopped by and did the quiz. I think its neat that you pinpointed your reader personality before you did the quiz and that the results were right!

I loved reading everyone's reading personalities! Thanks, everyone, for doing the quiz and leaving your comments!

  17. Hey, I love the watery background here. You have the most refreshing blog of all now.

  18. Of course, C, I've got to be the different one. Here is my result:

"Your responses showed you fitting into three different personalities:

Exacting Reader: You love books but you rarely have as much time to read as you'd like - so you're very particular about the books you choose.
Serial Reader: Once you discover a favorite writer you tend to stick with him/her through thick and thin and eagerly await the next in the series.
Eclectic Reader: You read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You're open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors. "

Of course I like to break the mold *grin* but I find this result to be pretty spot-on for me. Althought I also feel like I tend to be a "Serial" reader...I've got OCD when it comes to a series that I like...almost like an addiction. *rubs arms* *twitches* *waits for next Fever book by KMM to come out*

  19. CJ :: Thanks! I finally feel like I'm submerged in all things summer so I thought my blog needed to reflect that. :D

Teresa :: Hey, baby girl! I love your multiple reading personality! I think that is an automatic allowance to buy three times as many books! ;)
