Last September's triathlon was on my calendar for almost a whole year and I hadn't realized how accustomed I became to having a goal towards which to train. Once the tri was over, it was a matter of days before I started thinking, "WHAT'S NEXT?"
So I've been PLANNING! Here's a running list--pun intended!--of events I'd like to do over the next several months:
_√_ October 1, 2011 5K Run for cancercare.org
_√_ October 16, 2011 5K Run for Make A Wish Foundation
___ November 26, 2011 5 Mile Turkey Trot
___ January 1, 2012 5K Hangover Run
___ January 21, 2012 Romp to Stomp Breast Cancer
5K Snow Shoeing Event
___ July xx, 2012 Sprint Triathlon <--in ocean! OR Duathlon <--on land!
___ August 28, 2012 SheROX Sprint Triathlon
___
___ September 9, 2012 Gran Fondo 100 Mile Bike Event
___ September 30, 2012 5KTunnel to Towers
___ November xx, 2012 SheROX Sprint Triathlon in Bermuda <--A girl can dream, right?
This is just a plan. Everything is subject to change. Events may be added or deleted at whim. But I do hope to do most--if not all of these events. In any case, it should be an eventful year for me. Literally. : )
What about YOU? Do you have any Run or Walk Events on YOUR calendar?
If not, you should find one in your area. It's FUN!
LOL well run is not fun in my book but I am so proud of you!!! My gosh I can't wait to hear how you do on these runs. Its so cool that you are finding ways to reach your goals and finding goals to reach!!! Keep it up and if the fam gets tired of hearing about it we won't ;0)
ReplyDeleteYou. Are. Nuts.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to sign up to do more walks but they all seem to be fundraisers of some sort and I hate fundraising. If I could just pay $20 to do it then I would totally sign up for them. I did one walk last year it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! the only walking events in my calendar is my daily - mon to fri - walk to the bus after work. LOL
ReplyDeleteI know I always say this but you're amazing! :D Best of luck in your events.
That's a lot of cool things to accomplish! I hope you achieve each one! Our Y has a Scare-athon coming up. It has a half marathon in it. I've been thinking about it a lot.....
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time training for each one of those!
You are awesome! I'm cheering for you on each and every one you train for. :) I'm so happy for you to work so hard, planning, training and I know you'll do as many as you can for however long you wish to. :D Go, Chrissy!
ReplyDeleteNone on this end, but I've been trying to get back into working out at least twice a week. Am very sore right now. -_- It's only been the second week...or was it third. Lost count by soreness. Lol.
I don't have a plan other than to just find time to run! I hate that I only find time sporadically and I know that if I focused I go do more. Congrats again on accomplishing such an amazing goal!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new design for your blog! Light and airy, but yet warm and welcoming and also classic and pretty.
ReplyDeleteSarai :: I never thought running was fun, either. Until two years ago... so you never know. You might catch the bug one day. Never say never!
ReplyDeleteLisa :: It is kinda nutty, isn't it? Will it make you feel better if I tell you I might not do the 5K this Sunday? I'm still debating. Mostly because I have to drive 20-30 min to the event and I haven't found who wants to do it with me.
Linda :: I know what you mean. Most of the races I have here are indeed fundraisers for a cause, but if you sign up as a runner, your entry fee is your minimum donation--usually $20-30. For some reason, if you do the walk instead of the run, it's free, but has a minimum donation required. I don't know why that is.
Alex :: Thanks for the good luck wishes! Is it really hot where you live? I don't think I'd be so into running if I lived somewhere really hot. I like running in temps lower than 70 F best. The lower the humidity, the better.
Brandy :: Oh, a Scare-athon sounds like so much fun! You are considering the half marathon?! Wow! I don't have it in me to do 13.1 miles. Are they offering other distance levels. I'm definitely a 5K kind of girl. :)
little_alys :: Thanks! I'm working hard and will try to do as many of these as I can. Don't worry about the soreness... that will abate the more regular you exercise. Try to increase to 3-4 times a week and that will help you even more. You can do it! :)
samantha :: You've still got little ones home with you and underfoot. Finding consistent time for yourself is REALLY challenging at your stage in life. But if you could plan out your week ahead of time, I bet you could carve 20-30 minutes to run several days a week! Let me know how you do.
Brandy :: Thanks re: my new (again) blog design. I think this one is definitely more "me" in colors and style and feel. I hope I stick with it! lol
I didn't realize there are always so many going on! Sheesh. No runs for me. I wish I was into that but alas, I'm not. I do enjoy a good sprint out to the mailbox however! :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle :: I think I could find a 5K within 25 miles of where I live nearly every weekend of the year. Maybe it slows down in Dec.-Feb., but not much!
ReplyDeleteSprinting out to the mailbox is fun! Well, as long as there are no bills waiting for you out there, that is.
Fun layout Christine! I like it. I really think the 5K Hangover run sounds funny, I don't think anyone in their right mind would get drunk and then the next day do a 5k run. :-P But it's still funny. As for me, the only walk/run thing I'm doing is over Thanksgiving. My family is doing the first ever Schultz Trot, basically my Mom's side of the family put their own walk/run thing together to get our family out and active after the big dinner. It's only going to be 3-6 miles I believe but it will still be fun.
