Tell me what to read!

I'm looking for some help narrowing down my book choice for February's TBR Challenge hosted by Wendy the SuperLibrarian. I'll be lucky if I simply manage to keep up with this challenge, let alone follow Wendy's suggested monthly themes, but what the heck! I like pushing my luck and am going to try my best to follow the themes. February's theme is to chose a book from your TBR pile that was recommended to you by a friend and has since sat on your TBR shelf for a long time. I browsed my TBR pile and have come up with the following three books which I know made it to my TBR shelf due to strong recommendations from fellow romance reading friends. Now I want you to help me decide which one to read.

1. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley
Highland Pleasures series, Book 1
Published April 28, 2009
Historical romance

Read the book blurb on goodreads.

Recommended by Kristie J and then countless other romance reading friends including Amy and Tracy.

2. Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins
Stand alone novel
Published August 1, 2008
Contemporary romance

Read the book blurb on goodreads.

Recommended by Kati and then many other readers. I have read almost all of Kristan Higgins' books by now.. except for this one and Fools Rush In, both of which have been on my TBR for years.

3. Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt
Maiden Lane series, Book 1
Published August 1, 2010

Read the book blurb on goodreads.

Recommended to me [this book and the series] by primarily Hilcia and Leslie and I think nath, too. Other endorsements are from Tracy and Lori. Anyone else?

Please tell me which one you think I should read in the comments below. The book with the most votes by the end of the day on Wednesday is the one I'll read for February's TBR Challenge on February 15.

Thanks for your help! :)

    1. I haven't read the second book, and I tried the third, but it just didn't work for me (although that is most likely a 'me' thing :) but I adored The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie so I would say go for that!

Whatever you chose I look forward to hearing you think :)

  2. I don't have The Madness of Lord Mackenzie, but that would be my read if I did. On the other hand, I read and enjoyed Wicked Intentions quite a lot (which reminds me that I should look for the following books in the series...) so I'll go with that as my recommendation for you.

  5. I haven't read any of them, but if I were choosing I'd go with the Higgins book - it's sure to be fun!

  6. LOL, nope, I'm not the one who recommended Ms Hoyt's book. A lot of bloggers love her and I can see why, but she and I don't click :)

As such, I'd go with either the Jennifer Ashley or Kristan Higgins. I think it depends on your mood really :) Although I'll say that Just one of the Guys is probably my favorite by Ms Higgins. Just saying :P

  8. I've had The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie on my TBR pile for months now, so I would go with that ;-) Just One of the Guys is good, though. Tough choice! Read both!! Now I feel bad for Wicked Intentions.

  9. Well, I'd have to go with the Hoyt. :) But I also loved the Ashley. Haven't read the Higgins so it might just be a matter of what you're in the mood for.

  10. Well, either The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie or Wicked Intentions. However, I'm really, really loving the Hoyt series, whereas from the Ashley series, "Madness" was my one favorite and the other books are okay. Hmm... I read the Higgins, but hmm... "no comment." *g*

  11. I vote the Higgins book. It has a scene in the end that brought tears to my eyes. But, then again, I'm a sap. *g*

  12. I haven't read the Higgins but it looks good. I can't recommend the Hoyt enough - it was SO good. Although I loved the Ashley I know it's not for everyone. Good luck.

Now I have to figure out what I'm gonna read! lol

  13. I would go with Elizabeth Hoyt. To be fair, I liked that Higgins, but haven't read the Jennifer Ashley yet. No, I don't know what I am waiting for either.

  15. I haven't read the other two so I can only suggest The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, which I did enjoy, btw. The Hoyt looks promising though (love the cover) and it was suggested by some trusted readers. I may get it for myself, lol.

  16. I haven't read any of these but I want to read the Hoyt one myself. I'm looking forward to seeing what you choose :)

  17. It looks like samantha's vote broke the tie between The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie and Wicked Intentions. So .... Wicked Intentions it is! I'm going to start it within the next couple of days. Look for my TBR Challenge review and or commentary on Wednesday, February 15!

Thank you all for voicing your opinion on which book I should read for this month's challenge. I am going to make it a goal to read the other two choices at some point this year as well. They all sound like wonderful stories.
