I love ice cream. Just had to get that out there.
2 1/2 cups coarsely chopped and mashed fresh peaches
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 pint half and half
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Pour into freezer bowl of your ice cream maker, and process according to the directions of your machine.
In twenty or so minutes, we had perfect soft serve peach ice cream. It was so delicious. My recipe yielded an ice cream that was not super sweet, which my husband and I really enjoyed. The girls said they would like it sweeter, so next time I may add another 1/4 cup or so of sugar.
I have the Cuisinart 1 1/2 Quart Automatic Ice Cream Maker (shown at left) and love it. My friend has the next model up (shown at right) that makes 2 Quarts and it works like a dream. If I hadn't received mine as a gift, I'd probably have splurged for the 2 Quart model so I could make enough ice cream for company.
Your Ice Cream Personality: |
You are incredibly cautious. You rather miss out on something than make a mistake. No one would ever call you wild... but they would call you responsible. You are a fairly open minded person with a wide range of tastes. You are quite accepting of unusual ideas and people. You tend to have a one track mind. You prefer not to multitask. You can be a big dramatic and over the top sometimes. You are bold in every way |
That sounds yummy but I don't scream for ice cream. Never really was a big ice cream eater. I didn't even know there was a contraption to even make ice cream that you showed! On occasion I'll have some but mostly not. Making my own might be fun though. Everyone else can eat it and tell me how wonderful it is! Praise is good :)
ReplyDeleteI never used to care much for ice cream either, but an online friend (Jodi) introduced me to the joys of Haagen-Dazs sticky toffee pudding, and I am hooked. It's incredible.
ReplyDeleteWooo...ice cream heaven. *drools* Ugggg...peach ice cream...home made...yummmm. Seriously going to live through your blog. Would love that life, except I'm too career minded and nuts...like Auntie Nixie. Ehehehe~~
ReplyDeleteI like the ice cream test. Me take now. *mwah*
I think I would do almost anything for choclate/peanut butter swirl ice cream...yup anything. Also the smell at Coldstone makes me euphoric
ReplyDeleteTee hee hee, I recognize your pedistal that is holding your peaches. That is from Southern Living at Home. I don't have it, but I do have some of their things. It's very nice stuff.
ReplyDeleteI also have the ice cream maker on the left. I like to make mint cookies and cream ice cream with it. You just follow the recipie for vanilla and add peppermint extract and crushed up oreos and there you have it!
(please excuse my spelling, I know it's atrocious)
Amy C :: You don't scream for ice cream fans? More for me!
ReplyDeleteStacy :: Haagen-Dazs is sinfully delicious. I haven't had it in years. My husband and I used to go to the US Tennis Open every year and it was our tradition to indulge on Haagen-Dazs Raspberry Swirl ice cream every year. Yum!
Alys :: Nuts like Auntie Nixie? Is that a reference to the Immortals After Dark series? Ha!
Vampfangirl :: I'm going to Coldstone tomorrow with Katie(babs). I need to try something new this time. I've gotten the same thing the last two times I went: cheesecake ice cream with strawberries and graham crackers. =)
Jill :: OMG that's too funny that you recognize the pedestal from Southern Living At Home!! I bought that a few years ago. I knew I wanted it from the first time I saw it in the catalog. I love it and use it all the time!
I don't think I have the instruction booklet. A friend gave me the ice cream maker as a gently used hand me down from her mom who moved from NJ to CA and didn't want to take it with her. If I can't find the booklet, I may just ask you to email me the recipe! It sounds really good.
