Library Loot IV

Library Loot is a weekly blog event that encourages bloggers to share what books they borrowed from the library that week. To participate, simply make your Library Loot post on your blog and link it using the Mr. Linky link at Marg's blog Reading Adventures or Eva's blog A Striped Armchair. FYI, this week's Mr.Linky is at Marg's.

The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan.

The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan is a young adult novel that I probably would have skipped right over if not for the glowing review I read by both Ana and Thea of The Book Smugglers a few weeks ago. The cover didn't necessarily grab my attention and the book blurb sounded a bit generic to me. In The Book Smugglers' joint "What She Said" review, however, both reviewers were so clearly impressed with the author's ability to write such a compelling story about a truly dark, distant character that obviously affected Ana and Thea immensely. Obviously, I just have to read it now.

One For the Money by Janet Evanovich.
A Stephanie Plum Novel, Book 1

I've heard so much about these Stephanie Plum books for so long and always wanted to check them out for myself. I hear the books are really fun and the series takes place in right here in New Jersey, USA. I'm hoping that that familiarity will add to my enjoyment of the book and not detract from it. I know it's fiction and all for fun, but I hope the Jersey stereotypes aren't overboard. That'll just drive me nuts. ;)

  1. Two great books from what I've heard. Hope you enjoy them!

Look at you with your 3 columns! Love it and can't wait to see how you redecorate. :)

  2. Damon's Lexicon sounds interesting. Enjoy your loot!

  3. I too have read wonderful things about your choices Christine!

I'll look forward to your thoughts!!

I hope you are having a good week.

  4. Oh I want the demon's lexicon!!! Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

  5. Can't wait to see what you think of both of these! I've heard such great things about Demon's Lexicon. Also, I'll be interested for your "insider's view" of the Stephanie Plum books.

  6. Ohhhh, you've never read the Stephanie Plum? You're in for a treat, Christine :)

I admit to stopping the series, but the first 8-9 books are great :D

and you gotta be a Morelli fan. If not, I'll pout... LOL.

  7. Second Renee's comment about your "insider" view on the Plum books! I I loved the earlier books - the more recent ones are running out of steam, IMO, but there is some hilarious laugh-out-loud moments in the first few books!

  8. I have both books on my TBR list so I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of them both Christine :)

My current library book is HaveMercy; it's fantasy and so far very good!

  9. Hey everyone! Thanks so much for checking out my library loot! I can't wait to start reading both books. Actually I read the first chapter of ONE FOR THE MONEY already. I think I need to read more before I offer my "insiders" view! LOL

Tracy ~ thanks for noticing my new third column! I'm so proud of myself for editing the html without messing it up. Even if I did just follow instructions. :P

Linda ~ thanks for visiting! :)

  10. I have The Demon's Lexicon on my TBR shelves. Curious what you'll think of it.

  11. Can't wait for you to read Demon's Lexicon. REMEMBER: you need to stick with it till the end. *wink*

also, i got Perfect Chemistry today! *grin*

  12. I'm reading the Demon's Lexicon right now and struggling with it :( The writing started off so well but it's becoming bland. I shall persevere and post my review shortly--hopefully I change my mind!

  13. I love Evanovich so have fun with that one :D
And A demon's Le sounds great too

  14. Those early Evanovich books are so hysterically funny. Just thinking about one thing from the first book still makes me laugh!

The Demon Lexicon is one which I have added to my list as well.

  15. Hi Donna ~ Another one with Demon's Lexicon on their reading list. I'll definitely give it a go as soon as I finish One For The Money. I've been reading so much YA lately, I was in the mood for a quick, grown up read.

Rhiannon ~ I'm hoping the pace has picked up for you and you love it as much as Ana & Thea did.

Ana ~ Can't wait to hear what you think of Perfect Chemistry!! Crossing my fingers that you'll love it.

Blodeuedd & Marg ~ More Evanovich fans! Yay!

  16. Oooh, you haven't read Evanovich! I'll be interested to see what you think. It's not the usual stuff we read, but I enjoy her, especially when I'm feeling down.

  17. OMG my cover! I was looking at your new design (which I love) and there's my cover! Hey, you are a princess for posting that. Wow!

  18. Hiya Carolyn! :)
I actually just finished Evanovich's One For the Money last night. I found myself laughing at a lot of the pokes at New Jersey.... and then going on the defensive and thinking "Heyyyy!!!" *hmpf* LOL I'm definitely game for reading more in this series. :o)

Aww, of course your cover art for Mind Games gets cover love on my blog! It's a fantastic cover! <3
