Booksigning & Talk
I'm heading into New York on Friday night to see Sherrilyn Kenyon for her Acheron Book Tour. This will be my fourth time meeting Ms. Kenyon since August 2007. That's more often than I've met some of my blogging buddies. Seems almost unfair, don't you think?
The first time I met Sherrilyn Kenyon was in August 2007 when she came to a local New Jersey Barnes & Noble for the Devil May Cry book tour. I was immediately impressed by her warmth and humbleness towards her readers and fans.
Here's a picture of me with Sherrilyn the first time I met her. I am in my Dark Hunter zone--complete with a henna tattoo of the Artemis' Dark Hunter cross bow on my shoulder and Simi Demon horns [... little devil horns stolen from my daughters' dress up box. ;) ]
The second time I met Sherrilyn was several weeks later at the NJ RWA Literacy Signing in October 2007. She was again very kind and gracious and even said she remembered me. By now I had finished reading Devil May Cry and I got to chat a bit with her about the upcoming Year of Acheron. She said she really hoped people liked Ash's story and honestly sounded a bit nervous about it's reception by her readers. I admit, I was nervous, too. Was it possible to deliver a happily ever after worthy of a powerful and complex character like Ash? [...according to all the reviews I've been skimming this past week, I think the answer is Yes! Yay! :) ].
The last time I met Sherrilyn was in April 2008 at the NY Comic Con, which was a really different atmosphere to met her since this venue was so huge and she was clearly not the center of attention.
I'm imagining there will be A LOT of people at this Friday's Sherrilyn Kenyon event. It's New York City. It's Acheron. Can it get any bigger than that! Probably, but I like to pretend not. Embarrassingly, I'll be going to the book signing and talk without having read Acheron yet. How sad is that? I'll probably be the only one there who hasn't read it! Oh, wait! I'm making Kate go with me... she doesn't even read this series. Phew! She'll look sillier than me. :P
Anyone else going?
I look silly anyway :P
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to go because Sherrilyn was so awesome at Comic Con. I didn't have the chance to chat with her at RWA though :(
You guys are gonna have so much fun! The 1 time I met SK (I'm gonna have to catch up to your numbers soon on the meet and greet) she was incredibly nice.
ReplyDeleteKate :: You'll only look silly if you wear demon horns like I did last year. I'm going sans dress up ensemble this year. ;o)
ReplyDeleteTracy :: My friend Tish went to see SK recently at that funky bookstore that you were at last year.. Dark Delicacies, I think?
I've never been to a book signing, but Im dying to go and see SK. But if it ends late, I dont know if I'll go. Do you know What time do people usually get there? Early right? Does it end late? I haven't read Acheron either. You're not the only one. Lol.
ReplyDeleteP.S.- I just recieved your package. Thanks a lot.
Yay! I'm so glad you got the package. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am guessing it will run late. When she did the Devil May Cry book tour, she started promptly with a little talk and Q&A, then people got in line to get their books signed. I think we were given numbers as we got there which would indicate when we would line up. I am going to try to get there more sooner than later because I don't want to be taking the train back to NJ by myself too late at night. If you decide to go, I'd love to meet you. :D
Yeah, I have to take the train back to brklyn by myself. All of my gf's are either busy or outta town. Boo. Did you get your copy of Acheron yet? I have nothing for the author to sign except for the other books I have of the series.
ReplyDeleteYes, I bought Acheron on my book shopping spree last week (see a few posts back). I originally hoped to be finished with Breaking Dawn (BD) last week and would have all this week to read Acheron, but I'm still reading BD!! It's been kinda busy at home and BD is dragging a bit. I have 100 pages to go... hopefully I'll finish tonight. As long as I don't get sucked in by the Olympics. Hmm... that's unlikely though. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Sherrilyn Kenyon would sign any book you brought with you. She's so sweet. Do you plan on buying Acheron? You could always buy it there.
I'd like to get to the bookstore close to 6 pm. I'd rather hang around there early and browse or read some books and hopefully be able to catch the 9:30 pm train back to NJ. After that the trains are 10:30, 11:30, etc...
Hehehe. I saved up all my money for Breaking Dawn, and spent so much time reading it I totally forgot that Acheron was coming out that week too. So I was going to wait to buy Acheron. I knew I should have taken a double shift that weekend. I finished BD in 3 days. Shoudnt have stayed up till 4in the morning reading. I was a zombie at work and it was really bad cause I kept on thinking about Edward the whole time. LOL. Well I'll see how tomorrow goes before I make my choice to go or not. But Im excited just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI had fun at the signing last friday...it was faster and a little less personal though. Didn't get to hear any stories and such.
ReplyDeleteI didn't stay till the end though because I was driving in LA by myself...so not a good thing.
remember...GPS required! lol
Hey Tracy! Sorry I didn't get to meet up with you again! :(
SK was here in Minnesota today. Sadly I wasn't able to go. I can imagine it was crazy though. The signing was being held at Barnes and Noble at the Mall of America. I'm going next time damn it.! :D
ReplyDeleteIf you check out my myspace blog you can seen the lovely sign they had out for her.

FUN! I wish I could have gone when she came to Seattle. :( I hope you take lots of pictures. Get your photo taken with Acheron!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely bringing those horns with you tonight! I will have my camera ready to go!
