Hey everyone. It's been more than two weeks since my last post. So much for finding my blogging groove, huh? I feel so out of touch with everyone, too.. I have no idea what's going on with my fellow bloggers. Now I feel that I'll never catch up. Please know that I hope you're all doing well.. keeping busy and having fun with whatever you love to do.

Things have been pretty busy in our household lately. I know I mentioned in my last post all kinds of great things going on with my daughters. Most of the big stuff is done.. 8th grade semi formal, 8th grade overnight trip to Boston, dance recital, senior prom, etc. Now we're just riding out the rest of the school year for graduations--we've got two this year. Our youngest daughter, Anna, graduates 8th grade on June 24th and our eldest daughter Maria graduates high school on June 25th. I swear we have got to be the last school districts in the country to still be in school this late. We have Hurricane Sandy to thank for that for shutting down schools for almost two weeks last October. Anyway, lots of changes in store for us come September as Anna goes on to high school and Maria goes to college! It's all kinds of wonderful and scary.

A few months ago.. 100 days ago to be exact ... I joined the 100 Day Happiness Project that my friend Mari started up on her blog. You can read more about the project on her blog HERE or visit my post about it on March 1 of this year HERE. Basically I posted a list of projects that I wanted to work on over 100 days from March 1 to June 9 that would make me feel good and spread happiness. I didn't do even half the things on my list. I only did two. Yes, procrastination is thy middle name. Along with distraction. I'm easily distracted by spur of the moment projects and other life events with my family. That's life. It's happening! [quoted from Mari].

Despite my project failure, I do not feel this project was a waste of my time. Not at all. The thing is, I did do a lot of things over the last 100 days that were productive and happy. Some things were new things and that's great! Some things were things I do all the time. Things that make me a better person and the world a better place. So I made a new HAPPINESS list:

This is a list I strive to live by every single day. Some days are better than others and I'm okay with that.

You know.. I think I really love this list.

What do you think?

"Rules for Happiness:
something to do,
someone to love,
something to hope for."

-- Immanuel Kant

  1. I think the point of the list was to make you take notice of what might make you happy. You found that on your own, so your project was a success whether you completed your list or not.
As for blogging, I'm being really bad, too. It's just too hard to remember sometimes. Oh, and you e inspired me. I signed up to do a Colorvibe 5K whenever they come to my area. It's not your type of bike race, but I wanted to be as brave as you've been in trying something new. :)

  2. I love the list. I just made my 100 Things that Make Me Happy list and it was fun to just put it together.

I know what you mean about the end of the year stuff. My son finished his first year of high school at the end of May and my daughter finishes 4th grade this week. But we have shows and summer school and summer camp and who knows what else to keep us busy. I yearn for simple days. I really do.

Congrats to your kids on promoting from 8th and heading to college!

  3. As always Christine, you have a wonderful outlook. What a wonderful list you comprised :) my crew is already done and I am a happy camper! Getting ready to hit the beach!

Hope you've done some good reading, I have :) and I've been doing a lot more creating which has my other blog being a bit more occupied.

  4. I love your happiness list! Sounds like busy times for you ~ the end of the school year is always so crazy and just flies by!

  5. Wow your daughters are so big now...I remember when I first started reading your blog, they were children! *chuckle* It's not even that long ago, but boy, once they hit the teen years it's off like a shot, isn't it?

I really like your list, too. Would it be okay if I put it in my blog's sidebar? Something to remind me to be more positive, to look for, and find, at least a bit of happiness every day.

  6. Great stuff, can you believe the 100 days are over.... I agree it helped the overall mind set.

I am doing a review tomorrow on a book I read for the project and will include lots of quotes.

I love your strive for every day list.

  7. It is a busy time of year. I planned to do some posts this week. It's only Tuesday but I feel the week slipping away from me. Even doing my usual LL post seems like a long shot this week. The past month has been challenging. There has been some fun stuff and there's more on the horizon. As Dory says Just keep swimming.

  8. Brandy :: Thank you! I think that's exactly what happened with me during this project. I didn't realize it so much until the very end. I'm actually pretty happy with my personal outcome. :)

GO YOU! So proud of you for deciding to do the ColorVibe 5K when it comes to your area. Those races sound SO fun. I want to do one too. If we were closer we could do it together. Very proud of you.. keep me posted?

I noticed you haven't been blogging as much as you used to either. Maybe we're both in the same wave, you know? I do miss it and think about my blog often.. I just can't seem to muster the concentration or energy to put my thoughts to text! I feel a reprieve in the busy-ness of every day life upon me though. I hope it allows me to get back into the swing of blogging again.

Ti :: Ooo! I love 100 Things That Make Me Happy lists!!!! I'm going to check yours out ASAP! I always want to add a few more things to my list after visiting other people's though.. lol!

Congrats on your kids' accomplishments this year! They sure know how to keep us busy, huh?

luv46kdz :: Thanks so much, Paula! So jealous your crew is done and you are heading to the beach! Can I come??

I have been reading a lot, which is good. I think I'd go crazy if I wasn't. Glad to hear you've been creating, too! Have a great summer with your gang!

Catherine :: Thank you!!! Time sure does fly by.. are your guys done already? Do they play baseball through the summer, too?

azteclady :: I know! I started blogging about 5 1/2 years ago, so there's been a lot of growing up since then! Phew. So hard to believe, really. Well, you know what it's like!

I would love if you put the happiness list on your sidebar. Absolutely!

Marce :: Those 100 Days flew by fast, right? Looking forward to your review and quotes! It's always inspiring to hear others talk about what makes them happy.

Linda :: I know what you mean! I have a LL post from over a week ago that I still haven't finished.. and now I borrowed another book so I have to edit it more! lol! Determined to get it up for this week's LL link up. I LOVE that Dory quote! It was my mantra for the swimming part of my triathlon a couple of years ago. ^_^

  9. I do like your Happiness list, especially Smile Often, which only takes a second and little effort!
