Name Your Dessert Island Keeper!

a.k.a. Desert Island Keeper Hero Draft: Round 5 of 7.

Welcome players and spectators to today's (and maybe tomorrow's) round of DIK Madness. The game where friends come together and try to stake a claim on their favorite hero before their so-called friends STEAL THEM FROM YOU!!!! Nah. I'm kidding. No hard feelings. I'm sure we'll all be talking to each other again by the time Round 7 is over. Or at least by the end of next week. Definitely by 2009. Seriously. We're friends!

Below is a list of the women who selected six 'Desert Island Keeper' books to bring to our island's library almost two weeks ago. Since then, we've begun a 'Desert Island Keeper Hero Draft' for which the we are taking turns in rounds to pick seven heroes to join our island adventure.

If you need to email me your pick:

Round 1 picks are in RED.
Round 2 picks are in PURPLE.

Step 1. Find your name. That is the order you choose in.
Step 2. When it's your turn, “Call” ONE hero in the comments.
(Anybody from all of literature, but you can’t have somebody who is already picked!)

Who will you pick? Tracy gets to start. Tracy, leave your hero’s name in the comments. Then Thea gets to go. And so on. After this round, everybody will have five heroes, and draft round 6 will start at Kristie(J) & Katie(babs)'s. At the end of 7 drafts, everybody will have a group of 7 heroes to bring. Yes, trades are permitted. And if you missed last night's trade between CarolynJean and Lisabea... you've got some gossip to catch up on!

Don't worry about obsessively monitoring this thing. If you don't call your hero in 24 hours, 1 hour we'll skip you. LOL Just kidding. Maybe two hours. Or three. ;)

RULES:
• No picking out of order. Once the woman above you has chosen, it’s your turn.
• Trades are permitted, but be clear about announcing the results in the comments or email so your host doesn’t have to play sleuth.
• If it’s your turn and we don’t hear from you for 24 hours a few hours, sorry, you’re skipped. But you can email your host ahead of time with your pick. Or comment as soon as you come back and your pick will be entered.
• Latecomers: SORRY, we wish everybody could play, but there has now been a moratorium placed on add-ons, due to the record-keeping nightmare this will soon become.

ROUND 1: (now over) Hosted at CarolynJean's.
ROUND 2: (now over) Hosted at Sarai’s
ROUND 3: (now over) Hosted at lisabea's.
ROUND 4: (now over) Hosted at MaryKate's.
ROUND 5: Hosted at Christine's.
ROUND 6: Hosted at Katie(babs) & Kristie(J)'s.
ROUND 7: Hosted at Sula's!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I dont have Thea's pick this time but she will be up in 3 hours and I already sent her a message so she will be here as soon as possible!

Mornin' everyone. Let the madness begin! Christine, I'd get Merry Maids on the phone now girl, you're gonna need some help to get rid of the dead bodies by the end of this round!

  10. *Kate yawns after a night of booze, druggy orgy sex**

Last night was true Lord of the Flies fun. Who took my pig head?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good morning, everyone! I have NO email again today. Maybe all the comments from yesterday broke my email!!

I have a special pick planned.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Good morning peps!
Lord I hate starbucks or rather I hate the hang over from that place.
Gawd my breathe stinks and i have brushed my teeth 3 TIMES... Anywho whose up?

  13. MK- Blood? Damn, girl! Just what was happening in your hut?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Naida, I didn't receive your email with your pick! Can you please resend? krauscakes@verizon.net

    Thanks! :)

  15. CJ I wasn't getting emails from MaryKate's blog yesterday. I don't know why. I even redid the "email follow-up" thingy and it still didn't work. But it was working on all the other blogs I commented on, so who knows? Just hit refresh every 5 minutes! ;o)

    Merry Maids. Check.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I wonder if there is email trouble all over. Because remember how MK wasn't getting her emails?

Hey, if anybody has to email me,
    do

  17. You guys are still cracking me up.

There are some excellent choices here ladies. But I still have to say that Christine seems to have some mighty intelligent picks there. Archeron can do everything; V and Butch can entertain themselves while entertaining Christine.

But, Christine, you need another daywalker besides Ash! You read LKH's Merry Gentry? Cuz Rhys' sense of humor would be welcome after the drama from the other guys. Or Galen could do the housewife thing and doesn't mind being a beta.

And don't forget my Savitar suggestion (I think I got his name right this time). He's already got that Island Attitude, but he's just as scary as Ash.

Okay, returning to my place as a neutral observer now. Carry on.

    ReplyDelete
  18. MK- Blood? Damn, girl! Just what was happening in your hut?

Not me. Katie and her damn pig's head. That bad boy drips blood every where.

There were no undesirable fluids in my hut last night...trust me. ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  19. So, Thea is in the UK, right? So we may not get a pick from her for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thea is in California! She will be here in 40 minutes!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just a heads up, Jane on DA reviewed Karen Rose's new romantic suspense novel, Scream For Me and she's giving away 20 copies!!! AND she gave it an A-!!! Go forth and enter! Go on... decrease my odds of winning! :P

Then come back and have some coffee with me! :)

Click HERE for a short cut!

    Who loves you? Huh? Who?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Christine, you are a GIVER! Big giver. Except, I already have it. ;o)

But that means better odds for you, darlin'!

Oh right, Thea's in Cali, yay! That means we'll be moving ahead quickly. I'm still reeling from Shannon swiping Adam from under my nose. But I'm gonna recover. Quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I am ashamed of entering another contest for the time being. I just won a book over there
    LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  24. MK- Samuel is still available. Oooh! And Charles. What about Warren? Sure, he is gay, but damn, that Were is fine.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bev ~ ARGH!!!!! You're giving away my ace picks.

NO ONE better touch a short, muscular, one-eyed fairy who favors fedoras and old movies. I mean it. Back. Off.

    Sam, frantically re-evaluating today's pick.

    Oh, good morning everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  26. MK- Samuel is still available. Oooh! And Charles. What about Warren? Sure, he is gay, but damn, that Were is fine.

Shannon, I've got today's pick all settled upon, and believe me when I say, I'm going to be very, very well taken care of. The man can do EVERYTHING! I'll just envy you Adam from afar. Afterall, I've got a panther living with me, I'm not sure how he and Adam would have settled in.

Sam, LOL! If I were to go for anyone it would be Mistral. I think you're safe. I still have Doyle envy. He just never occurred to me, I'm ashamed to say.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good morning ladies!! I need a huge pot of coffee :)

OK so I am here, and I am taking yet another superhero...

Remy LeBeau (a.k.a. Gambit) is MIIIIIINE. Precious. Has to has him. *coddles Remy* And that's from Uncanny X-Men by Chris Claremont.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ooops, sowwy Sam.

But look at it this way, YOU don't have any BDBs right? Well, all the ladies that have hoarded them are also going to have a big decision on their hands:

Unless one of them is a Scribe Virgin (hee, not bloody likely), they are going to have to figure out how to feed those BDB boys. They could leave them at way less than full potency by feeding them human blood, or they are going to have to bring some prissy Scribe Virgin into their hut to keep the boys at full power.

Hmmm... wait a minute. Maybe Christine's picks AREN'T so smart after all! CHRISTINE... you better think twice about your next pick! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yay THea, Remy!!! Can I play with him, can I can I?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, I moved on from rum lush to pot addict. So maybe I should pick Phury this time arouns.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, but Katie, do you have kleenex in your hut? 'Cause with Phury it's all "wah, wah, wah" all day long.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Did someone holla at sula to let her know she's up?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good morning West Coast girls! :)

Bev, I forgot to answer your question-No, I haven't read any LKH. I haven't read a lot of stuff out there. I barely know half the men on these lists!

Which reminds me. We're going to have mixers on this island, right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. ok i'm back. and i think i gained 5 effing pounds this week sitting here. damn U ALL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ok, so I have a vampire, a cowboy, a rascally noble, and a bi ex-soldier. What other skill set do I want to bring to the island? I know! A frontier hero who can track and hunt, build houses out of nothin', make his own tools and clothes, live totally off the grid...in short, a guy with wilderness survival skilz. Just the kind of capable man I will need to build my hut and of course to help me heat it. lol *g*

So, I choose Nathaniel Bonner from Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. Oh and in my mind, he looks a lot like Daniel Day-Lewis ala Last of the Mohicans. yum!

    ReplyDelete
  36. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  37. MK: when you said kleenex I was thinking of some other fluids to wipe clean besides tears. Heh heh
Oh yeah Phury. Weak ass vamp. Throw him into the lagoon.

    ReplyDelete
  38. LOTM the novel is dull and boring. The movie however...oh baby. love it love it. And Into the Wilderness was my kind of book. Love that Nathaniel. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey all! I haven't read anything but wanted to say hi. Off to a staff meeting. Damn! Why can't I be a woman of leisure???

    ReplyDelete
  40. Christine - I just tried to email you my pick, but as usual, verizon sucks. Did you get it, before I try again from a different address?

    ReplyDelete
  41. No, MK, I didn't get your email. :(
Naida commented earlier saying she emailed me, too and I didn't get hers either. Double :(

Try to send from a different account. I'll sign into AIM right now, too, if you want to give it to me there.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ok. I got your email from your hotmail account. You're good to go. :)

btw, NICE PICK!!! OOOoo I forgot all about him. Shame on me! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. christine, I just resent mine :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. My turn! OK, tell me if this is not allowed, but after the choice of Batman yesterday I think i might be able to get away with it. My hero (who I totally thought of yesterday after the Batman uproar) is also a comic book hero. He did not start that way. First he graced my television. Then he was on the big screen. The love was so huge his creator decided to continue the storyline with an original comic book series.

Captin Malcom Reynolds (AKA. Capt. Tight Pants) from Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity franchise and comics. Guh! Just the thought... ::fans self::

    ReplyDelete
  45. my two picks for the next rounds have been already taken...*sob* Jacob Black and Mr Darcy!

    ReplyDelete
  46. hmmm.... I still didn't get your email, naida. :(

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOL Shannon! I don't see why not. Any objections?

Naida, I get an error message when I try to view your blogspot profile, so if you have an email address listed there, I can't even access it. So sorry for the trouble. I hope its not my email causing trouble here.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Shannon!!!! You are cheating!!!!!! can we do that? can we? can we have tv heroes turned comic books heroessssssssssss???

    What a fantastic choice !!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Shannon--NICE pick!!!!! Mal rocks. And the comics aren't bad either, they just kind of freak me out since they are so...lifelike.

Captain Tight Pants! Welcome to the island!

    ReplyDelete
  50. On a separate note...does this mean Indy and Han Solo are fair game? Because...they are in spinoff books too!

    Mulder too???

    *dies*

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love Jacob Black, too. Lucky Thea.

    ReplyDelete
  52. JACOB!!
I feel like a dirty old woman lusting after a 16 year old.

I want Breaking Dawn soooo bad!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ok, I guess Captain Tight Pants is in. As long as he's available in written format somewhere, why not, right?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey! He's a character. I see no reason he can't be in! Mal aka Cappy tight pants is a great choice.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wheeeeeeeee!!!! OMG, I don't know what to do with myself now. Mal is kinky enough to enjoy watching and participating. Oh the fun we will have!

    ReplyDelete
  56. ::whistle blow::

BUT only heroes from FICTION. I mean, who's next? JESUS?

    ReplyDelete
  57. ::MK claps hand over mouth before saying something offensive::

    ReplyDelete
  58. LB: Seriously, what would Jesus do? You must ask that question.
Off to confession you go for making Mikey a lowely servant and trading him for a man with a special ring that you chew on.

    ReplyDelete
  59. THea!!!! Shannon! Christine.

    Can we pick from spin-ofs?

    oooooooooooooooooooooooo

    Muwhahahahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm #13 again!? I suppose it's good, since I just got up. Good morning ladies!
I just finished Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs, which I see some people have been discussing. I was expecting more romance. The only other thing I've read of hers was the short story from the anthology "On the Prowl" and it was a romance. I enjoy urban fantasy, but it doesn't give me that yummy satisfied feeling like a good romance does. You know what I mean? I want two people to fall in love and live HEA. I wish Mercy'd choose between her boys and fall deeply in love and all that jazz. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sorry guys rough day. I would like Jonas from the Breed Series Lora Leigh (any and all books) Damn I have yet another cat...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Girl. You are so going to need a big litter box in that hut.

Jake can come stay at my place when HIS ALLERGIES act up.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Seriously turning into the cat lady over here I have a man that turns into a black cat, a jaguar and now a man with lion DNA... Add to it I have a ex-Roman Slave that's a God now, and bi sexual detective...
Seriously my shrink is going to have fun with this ;0)

    ReplyDelete
  64. OMG! Thea has Gambit!! WTF!!!
    *faints*

What a great way to start a crappy day. ^_~ Morning everyone! Er..Good noon.

    ReplyDelete
  65. LB you want to trade him for Colin???

    ReplyDelete
  66. Eww, I hope nobody brings Phury. He's such a whiny pussy. He'll ruin all the fun.

I'm reading a great book right now, and I think I may have a new man to add to my lot.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Okay, my turn, right?

First, you have only yourselves to blame for making me think of this because I assumed this was not allowed. But it is, and I can't stop grinning.

Also, on the Mistral thing. When he asks Merry, "Do you want to ride the thunder, baby?" Yeah, okay, that was hot. I think I got that quote right, can't find the book. :-)

Oops, sorry to make you wait for my choice.

Angel (aka Angelis)~ Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Angel Chronicles by Nancy Holder, and the
upcoming Angel: After the Fall by Brian Lynch and Franco Urru. Although, let's face it, it's David Boreanaz from Joss Whedon's masterpiece.

    ReplyDelete
  68. A freaking 2 hour staff meeting. There's only 4 people for God's sake - can't we do it a little faster? I've got DIK to check out!

*stretches out on a Chaise* Phin, get the palm branch to fan me. Dorian, peel me some grapes honey. Wrath, I'd like a cadiallac margarita, sweetie. Z, Caine...you can work on the rest of my body then you all can take turns. Damn, I feel better already!

    Good picks ladies!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Samantha , great pick!! I knew someone was going to go for Angel! *drools*

    ReplyDelete
  70. Samantha! What an awesome pickk!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. *MK bouncing up and down*

Come on Naida! I need my man!

    ReplyDelete
  72. OMG, I'm so excited. I have Angel in the cave with the other vamps. Those BDB boys better be nice to him. And the beauty of it is no scribe virgins required. Hell, he can live on Bloody Mary's (literally).

    ReplyDelete
  73. popping in here.
Sarai, sorry you're having a rough day. And I'm seeing some fabulous choices here.
Samantha, I knew Angel would go. Nice!
KB: you know how you can rescue your Michael, who is currently attending to his hut cleaning duties. You have until my turn to pick. Because I am going to pick a playmate for him, and then I will never release him.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ciara- Keep reading. She makes a choice in book 3. And it gets a wee bit steamier.

Adam and I will be making up for the lack of steam. Oh trust me.

    ReplyDelete
  75. CJ: CRUEL!!
I know who you want and you can not have him!!
my poor mikey reduced to a butler!

    ReplyDelete
  76. If Sam gets Angel, can I get Spike?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Shannon - thanks! Is she going to get a HEA? or is it going to be a long angsty series like LKH? Blood Bound reminded me of Guilty Pleasures (the only LKH book I read) in that there wasn't much happiness, only cynicism and violence. I want hope and joy and love from my books. ;) Is that too much to ask?

Sarai- I hope the rest of your day goes better! I'm envious of your cat harem.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ciara you say your jealous but wait until they start hacking up furballs and shedding then you'll change your mind.
Luckily they don't piss to mark their territory only scratch *winks*

    ReplyDelete
  79. I need to go pick my kidlets up from school. Naida tried to email me her picks twice this morning with no success. I think we should wait a bit in hopes that she comes over to post her pick before moving on. We'll give her... shall we say... 10 minutes? LOL Kidding.

While we're waiting, scroll down and watch my kid's "Shake It!!" vid one more time. The girls check their hit count every day. They're anxious to break 1000. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sarai = no, i'd still be jealous. All the hairballs and litterboxes and scratch furniture in the world couldn't detract from the love of having a cat.

    Sniff.

    ReplyDelete
  81. How are we gonna feed all these vamps?

    I KNOW!

Let's all take a character we don't like and they can drain 'em! I vote Ayla from Clan of the Cave Bear.

    ReplyDelete
  82. All the vamps can have their wicked way with me and feed.
Of course by now I have more rum than blood in my veins and the smoke makes me sleepy, bot oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  83. LOL Tumperkin - that's a great idea. Although 1 character probably wouldn't hold them for long!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Can you squeeze blood from a ghost? Cuz I vote to toss Jane to the vampires.

    ReplyDelete
  85. ciara- It is a series, so it is still ongoing. Let's just say she makes a decision. Iron Kissed gets even darker than the previous book, but I hear the next one (Bone Crossed) is going to go back to a lighter theme. Hopefully, she will explore the relationship more in the next installment now that Mercedes has chosen one man. This will never be a series that becomes a light romp. There will always be some angst, but so long as I get more shippiness, I will be happy. Who am I kidding, I will still read it if it is angst filled.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Don't forget Cormia. Bah.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ha! Ayla could feed a HUNDRED vamps single-handedly (don't you know she can do ANYTHING?)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Shannon - what is shippiness?

Katie(babs) - some of us haven't been lucky enough to read Cormia's story yet. Maybe you should share the love so we can commiserate. *cheeky*

    ReplyDelete
  89. Tumperkin! you really have it in for that Ayla! And yes, she would be handy in the way you suggest. As we established some time ago, she is the ULTIMATE annoying Mary Sue!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Ciara, I could kiss you! Yes, let's please feed Jane and Marissa to the hungry vampires. Or maybe to the demons and werecreatures. *evil grin*

    ReplyDelete
  91. I vote we stick Havers in the "to be bled dry pile". I just don't like him!

    ReplyDelete
  92. huh. let me try this again.

shippiness= having to do with the relationship between two characters you love. other uses: to "ship" a character, or pair them up romantically (This is common in TV fandom. People tended to ship Buffy with either Spike or Angel.)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Have fun today! Off to work. It is so cold and there is mist all over the valley. Less attractive is the slightly runny nose I have. Meh.

    Some fab pics already!

    ReplyDelete
  94. *GASP* I like Havers. I can redeem him. :D
You didn't hear this from me. but as for Cormia, the pool scene that Ward raves about in LE is nothing really. Bah. boring. give me another shot of rum.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The "bled dry pile". Hmm, yes, very good idea. Maybe next we should make a list of feeders.

    ReplyDelete
  96. You LIKE Havers?? Can you still be my friend? These and other questions...like, what could you possible like about him? I don't like his sis either though. She made Butch into a dribbling idiot (which I'm sure our friend Christine can fix in her hut). Too harsh?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wait, Tracy, what? Butch becomes a dribbling idiot? Ho..HOW??!!?!??! OK, I've only read the first book, but still, how does THAT man get reduced to dribbling idiot? The idea is painful. I really like him.

And Havers is a tool. That is all.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Goodbye Sarah! Have a nice day!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Ooh, I see some Patricia Briggs talk! Ciara...hmm. Mercy does make her final pick in book 3, but you should be forewarned that it is not a light book--there is some serious hefty stuff that happens. That said, I absolutely adore these books, this is probably my favorite Urban Fantasy series. As Shannon said, this isn't the type of series that is likely to become lighter or focus solely on Mercy's relationship with the guy she picks...so...consider yourself warned!

It's not really a romantic series, know what I mean?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Briggs is just such a fabulous author. She is gaining popularity suc that they are rereleasing her older publications. Some of the covers have been spiffed up. I was at the store the other day and almost got tricked into thinking she had a new release that I somehow missed. Of course, I knew that could not be right since her next book is going to be Cry Wolf (Charles and Anna's story.) About 6 months later we will get Bone Crossed, the 4th Mercy book.

Have any of you read her earlier books? I am not sure if going backwards is going to be a good idea or if I should just wait for new books.

Damn, the word verification is getting longer and longer. I think it is trying to make sure I have not been dipping into Katie's stash!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Ciara, Briggs has a spin-off series coming out set in Mercy's world but centered on a couple, Charles and Anna (Charles is one of the Alpha's sons). The first one Cry Wolf, releases July 29th. Its prequel is in the anthology On the Prowl

    ReplyDelete
  102. LOL

Shannon and I are ever so helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  103. heehee! Any chance I can get to hook someone on the world of Mercy, Adam, Samuel, Charles, the Marrok...

    ReplyDelete
  104. Shannon and bev(qb) - You are very helpful! I really liked her story in On the Prowl, so I'll def check out the next one. I just finished reading the reviews of Iron Kissed on Dear Author and now I'm hooked. But worried at the same time, since one person really liked the book and the other didn't. I love briggs' world building. I guess what I really want is fantastic world-building and story telling, with a yummy romance too. I want it ALL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Ok. I don't know what to do. I'm churning in turmoil and I'm about to pass out from the stress of this damn game.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dude, seriously, at what point do we skip Naida and move on??

CJ, Mistress of the Picks, can you authorize us moving on??

    :puppy eyes: Please??

    ReplyDelete
  107. Do I trade Colin for Jake and suffer the wrath of Katie for the rest of my natural life and thereby have to skip my next pick so as to nab my last pick before Christine does infuriating Sam Kane whom I told I would pick my favorite of her characters?

Is that a run on sentence? My brain. It hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I just took out the 'captcha' thing for comments during this round. That gets annoying when you're posting a gazillion times!

I actually have all of Briggs' Mercy books AND the On The Prowl anthology on my TBR pile. I seriously need more hours in the day to read.

Havers is a pathetic ass. He must grovel for Marissa's forgiveness. And then she should say no.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Poor LB. Gettin' some DIK was never this complicated before.

    *passes out espresso martinis*

    ReplyDelete
  110. Shannon, I have read and loved Patricia Briggs' old books (Steal the Dragon, Where Demons Walk)--and while they aren't quite as shnazzy and polished as the Mercy series, they are wonderful and I highly recommend them :) Especially Steal the Dragon. As in the Mercy series there is a romantic subplot, but it isn't the main focus of the book. Oh and I should mention her earlier works are full fledged fantasy (no weres or vamps or whathaveyou). Give them a shot!

Oh and I was totally tricked by the new covers too--I thought there was a slew of old Briggs' books I hadn't read...nope. Turns out they are just updated covers.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Do I trade Colin for Jake and suffer the wrath of Katie for the rest of my natural life and thereby have to skip my next pick so as to nab my last pick before Christine does infuriating Sam Kane whom I told I would pick my favorite of her characters?

    LB one word? YES

    ReplyDelete
  112. Wait?! Hold the ship! You would trade Colin for Jake Riordan?!!? WOW. But why would that make Kate mad? Doesn't she want Michael?

(And OMG! How would you ever explain THAT to Meljean?)

    ReplyDelete
  113. TRADE COLIN??!?
oh lord hand me a fan!!
I am out of rum!!! EEEK!! Someone help a sister out!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Okay, are we waiting for Naida? And has anybody posted a reminder on her blog? Has she been around today?

    ReplyDelete
  115. I have a plan for Michael, and it is way better than having him clean up after me and Eric and Ranger and Morelli.

I will soon enact my plan. And once I do, you will all want to come over to my hut.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I could totally see LB trading Colin for Jake. Sarai, you should give some thought to this.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Naida attempted to email her pick to me twice earlier today... the last attempt was about 4 1/2 hours ago. It may be fair game to move ahead and add her pick when she checks back in.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Oh, you said yes! Exciting! I was a sloppy reader! Now, will LB do it?????

    ReplyDelete
  119. lb ~ I will not be offended. Make the trade and your pick if it's what you really want to do in your heart of hearts. I will not openly shun you.

    ReplyDelete
  120. How would MJB know if Sarai abandons Colin? We should make him do fashion shows for us as entertainment on the island. And eat mangoes in front of us. HOT. *faints*

Can anyone recommend an author that is like MJB? As in "if you like MJB then you will like X"?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Cj - I can't make it over till later - I'm dancing a minuet with Sherv. Oh wait, Graham just took his clothes off.....

    ReplyDelete
  122. .... but she probably will behind your back. Just sayin.'

    *passes sweetbea another martini*

    (this is fun)

    ReplyDelete
  123. I don't know I haven't heard anything from her not a peep... nothing... I guess Jake isn't worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Oh Christine - my love! I love that you want Havers to grovel!!!

Shannon - ignore anything we say about the BDB books until after you read them! (I haven't read any Patricia Briggs)

*passes KB some Rum from my stash*

Ciara - I don't think there's anyone quite as wonderful as MJB...but let me think! :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. Only I can see the good in Havers is seems.
*chugs some rum* Thanks Tracy! Where'd the grapes go to?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Oh. Meljean knows. SHE SEES ALL.

    And I emailed her.

    oMG. I want JAKE.

    ReplyDelete
  127. No problem KB - and Dorian peeled all the grapes for me so they should be here somewhere *looks around hut* Ah, there they are...thanks for keeping them chilled for me Caine - you're a great asset to the hut. Now show me your assets!

KB - you ARE apparently the only one who sees the good in Havers - to quote a friend...the pathetic ass.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Shannon - I agree with Tracy. Catch up on the BDB and we'll chat. I personally think BDB readers are overly harsh with Marissa. If all heroines were confident, strong willed and kick ass, the world would be a boring place, don't you think?

    ***START BDB SPOILER***
I actually related to Marissa very well in Lover Revealed. Probably because my father was as controlling, condescending and unfoundedly elitist as Havers, who also left me out in the cold when I fell in love with someone of a different race-again, just like Havers. Asshole. But that's just little ole my opinion. ;)
    ***END BDB SPOILER***

So all in favor of skipping Naida, please say AYE. Three votes and we move on.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Christine, I respectfully disagree. She's a wank. But you are obvhiosly entitled to your own opinion.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. AYE!!
I actually like Marissa. Not that I would want her to get run over by a bus. I am too nice for that unlike some.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Christine. You are no wank. Girl. You have backbone.

    AYE

    ReplyDelete
  132. Aye!

    I feel like a pirate.

    ReplyDelete
  133. And see how wonderfully you turned out Christine - despite your dad. Maybe there's hope for ole Marissa yet. Ok - I'll be honest with you - I ain't holding my breath. Doh!

    AYE!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Girls, I am off to bed but I left my pick with Thea!
    Have a good night everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'm a ways down the list, and it's nearly bedtime in the UK, do you think I can get away with posting first thing in the morning?

I have my picks and a spare just in the very unlikely event anyone picks my guy. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  136. Night Ana!

Lesley - email them to Christine and she'll post it for you.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Have sent my pick to Christine.

    :)

    LesleyW

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thea-You are evil! I was going to pick Gambit. *sniffle* I'm noticing a trend in today's choices. Oh, Christine, did you get my email for my choice? I dunno if I'll be on here in time for it & stuff, even though I'm last. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  139. And when is someone going to choose the man in tights? Man of steele...whatever. :) I keep expecting it somewhere along the line unless it slipped by me & I missed it. *sigh* I'm on my lunch break. Won't be able to come back til after 7 my time. *sniffle* I miss being all up in everyone's business. :(

    ReplyDelete
  140. And when is someone going to choose the man in tights? Won't be able to come back til after 7 my time. *sniffle* I miss being all up in everyone's business. :(

    ReplyDelete
  141. Bridget~You say man in tights and I think Mel Brooks.

    ReplyDelete
  142. To the lovely ladies who worship their DIKs,

I have, of course, a list of requirements that must be fulfilled before I reside in a hut.

(I will, at this time, forgo listing my objections to living in any building that can be described as a 'hut.' Good God. The list would be far too exhaustive, and an eternity not long enough to write it.)

    1) All mirrors shall be removed from the premises. In any case, no one will be looking at themselves--anyone with sense will be looking at me.

    2) One woman cannot supply all of the blood I require, and therefore I must be granted access to every hut.

    3) If I am not provided the women I need, I will take your men. I will give them a shagging unlike any they've ever had, and for some time afterward they will be good for nothing, and very likely crawl after me, ignoring you and hoping for another tumble. At such times, they will be unavailable for mohito-making, cleaning, and various other activities that you have planned for them.

    4) I prefer not to sunbathe. If you wish to see me in a bathing suit, it will have to be in the dark or indoors. If you wish to see me nude, you have only to ask -- but you must prepare yourself for the glory that awaits you, and either sit or lie on a bed first. It is so tedious to always be catching fainting women.

    5) If I am traded, I prefer not to be in a hut with Hugh Castleford. It is inconceivable to me that he was chosen before me; I may very well kill him.

If, of course, he does not first lecture me to death.

    6) I must have a closet, access to a shower, a toothbrush, and the Wilkes Bashford website. Upon request, I will critique the other heroes' appearances, but I will not purchase clothing for anyone but myself.

    7) I will not kiss McCabe.

    Forever yours,
    Colin Ames-Beaumont

    ReplyDelete
  143. Ok. That seals it. I cannot trade Colin. He and Adrien are perfectly suited to be my BFF's

    Jake. FU.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Yo Lisa, keep Colin. He is too high maintence. You will have to sell yourself to keep him in style.

I am all for late night skinny dipping at midnight if Colin is there naked! :D

    ReplyDelete
  145. Bwah ha ha!!! OMG, now I need to read those books. Damn, I have my grubby little fingers on it not 20 minutes ago and returned it to the shelf. What was I thinking? Colin must join my TBR pile.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Oh, Fabulous, Colin!
    I mean, Oh, Fabulous Colin!

    ReplyDelete
  147. I heart Colin. Just HEART him. He stays in MY, er, 5 star hotel room on the beach with room service and Adrien and I'm way way way too into this game now and need to go LIE DOWN.

    So. Who's up?

    ReplyDelete
  148. Whose turn is it? What is happening here?

    ReplyDelete
  149. .... but she probably will behind your back. Just sayin.'

Now, does that sound like me? Nooooo. I wouldn't, for instance, mark her email address as spam or anything. Honestly. 0_0 See how sincere I am?

I'm just kidding lb. I really wouldn't have minded. But I can see why you wouldn't want to trade Colin. Adrien will find him endlessly amusing.

The you-know-what hit the fan at my blog today, although it's not my fault, I swear. And I missed most of it because I was DIKing around.

    ReplyDelete
  150. O'rly? Sam I'm going to go LOOKsy.

    ReplyDelete
  151. OMG Colin! You SOOOOOOO Rock! Don't know that I'll ever be able to forgive LB for stealing you. I know, I had the chance and FUBAR'd, my apologies! And honey you can come over to my hut any time of the night!

Ooh, Samantha..I'll have to check out what happened!

So did we skip Naida? Does that mean MaryKate is up?

    ReplyDelete
  152. I just saw the post at my blog....my emails didnt get to christine...yikes!

I choose Tristen from 'Legends of the Fall', a novel by Jim Harrison.

In the film version Brad Pitt plays him :)
    http://thebookworm07.blogspot.com/

    ReplyDelete
  153. Yay! My turn???

I choose Jacob Green from Joey W. Hill's Vampire Queen series.

He can give me my mani/pedi while I'm on the islands. And whip up some crudites.

And, well, do other things too.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Now that's one dude to have on the island. Holy Hell. I think he and Nate might hook up.

    ReplyDelete
  155. And that's my IN for the couch and popcorn!

    wOOt!

    ReplyDelete
  156. You know it. That'll do. I canna wait to see it.

OK is it my turn? I'm bummed that Caine is gone...but he'd a freaked in my hut.

I pick my number one hero of all time:Savitri Murray, Demon Moon, Meljean Brook

    ReplyDelete
  157. Well, at least now the other islanders are safe from Colin.

    ReplyDelete
  158. NIce pick! Our first wimminz.

    ReplyDelete
  159. And anyone who thinks she's there to do laundry better think again. She's sooo there to entertain Colin.

    ReplyDelete
  160. All's I'm sayin' is I've got a spot on the sofa in LB's hut with the popcorn all buttered up.

    Bring it on!

    ReplyDelete
  161. AH crap LB, Christine is going to kill you!!
    Cat fight.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Yea! My turn - and Katie didn't have to email me this time.
I don't know if I want to be on an island with all these vampires. Aren't they going to want to feed sometime??
And my age is showing here too I'm thinking!!
Anyway onto my pick so that Katie can do hers.
For my first pick I went to the past. For my next pick I went to the future. For my third pick I went further into the past. For my fourth pick I went Back To The Future (see - how many of you remember these movies?).
Just for a change, for my fifth pick I'll stay right here in present time and keep my fingers that my sixth pick is still out there when my turn comes around next. I can't believe this hero still hasn't been taken but I choose
    *drum roll please*
GRAY ROUILLARD of Linda Howard's After the Night.
Yes - he's been accused by some of being too alpha - but hey - he needs to be amongst some of these other heroes!

    ReplyDelete
  163. Kristie picks a man who knows how to use his tongue :D

Now my question is, are heroines up for grabs?

    ReplyDelete
  164. Kristie picks a man who knows how to use his tongue

    In the ladies room, IIRC.

    ReplyDelete
  165. One of the most classic of all love scenes - that washroom scene!!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I'll have to check this one out, I've liked what I've read of Linda Howard so far.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Who's turn is it??? huh, huh, huh? Hey, I might actually get to pick my own in my own time! Whee! It's a good one, too. :)

    Still working...boring! *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  168. Oh Tracy - you will have to read this one. Grey is pretty alpha but Faith is one of my all time favourite heroines - and the love scenes *heavy duty swoon*

    ReplyDelete
  169. Since this is a hero DIK and not a heroine DIK as of yet I am going to pick Fey shapeshifter Rain Tairen Soul from Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson.
I can ride him all day long and he can scorch all your menz to dust!

    ReplyDelete
  170. SOLD! Doesn't take much with me and books! :) Isn't it Katie's turn? Stop drinking my rum and pick, Katie!!

    ReplyDelete
  171. And he's got a huge tongue. Wait, did just say that?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Oh, nice choice, KB. Dark Alpha with shape-shifting tendencies. Yummy!

However, is it just me or did Ms. Wilson never go into 100% detail as to what the Tairen really are? I'd love to find out more. Here's hoping the next two actually get to the Tairen's land??? :)

    ReplyDelete
  173. KB, you have chosen a VERY powerful hero! When he gets angry, our whole island will shake and shiver!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Isn't a Tairen a type of cat? He changed into one all the time.
And Sula still has to read Lady of Light and Shadows!!

    ReplyDelete
  175. CJ: I will be shaking and shivering that's for sure ;)

    ReplyDelete
  176. Gray is all that and a bag of chips.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Kristie picked Grey and his magic tongue.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Oh, I was thinking of a DIFFERENT Gray. Okay.

    ReplyDelete
  179. I'm here! I just got back from dinner. Hubby took me out for a bucket of snow crab. Yummmm. Can I take him to the island? :)

Ok, really...my 5th pick is going to crack some of y'all up. I choose Challen from WARRIOR'S WOMAN by Johanna Lindsey. He's a warrior from another planet where they punish naughty women by bringing them to the height of sexual ecstasy without release, and then the next night they make up for it tenfold.

I'm going to be verrry naughty for him. *evil grin*

    ReplyDelete
  180. OMG JenB!That's sooo hilariously hilarious. LOVE IT.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Oh! And Challen likes to give spankings. So don't be alarmed by the slapping noises and the passionate cries coming from my hut. Grrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Whoa! Wild times!

Luckily you'll have the other guys around to finish things.

    ReplyDelete
  183. JenB, I like you new little icon. Does that go with your new hero choice???

    ReplyDelete
  184. That was such an over the top book for its time...

    ReplyDelete
  185. yeah, kb, i still gotta read LOLAS. I did start it tho. :) Then my aversion to martyr heroines kicked in strong and I put it down. But I will pick it back up. For Raine. Because that is one hot cat/tairen/king/fey.

jenb, that is an awesome pic. never heard of challen, but omg, funny!!! we'll just ignore the sounds coming from your hut. heh.

    ReplyDelete
  186. CJ--That is the icon I'm using on my new blog (will I get in trouble if I mention it here? the grand opening is coming soon), and I think my demon boyfriend will appreciate it too.

LB--Did you read WARRIOR'S WOMAN? Such cheesy fluffy finger-licking goodness. And so hot! I'm not usually into the caveman alpha hero, but come on...Challen! *swoon*

Sula--Look up WARRIOR'S WOMAN on Amazon. It's a guilty pleasure. I should really be embarrassed for loving it, but I can't help it.

    ReplyDelete
  187. jenb~Remember her book where the heroine ties up the hero and gets herself impregnated by climbing aboard?

    ReplyDelete
  188. OMG Prisoner of Desire!! The heroine has to "rape" the hero!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Mention it! But if we can't visit, mention it later, too, when we can!

    Sounds fun.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Here is Ciara's pick:

My pick is from C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series. He's really good with children and kittens!

Kieran vel Solande — Son of the powerful shei'dalin, Marissya v'En Solande and her truemate Dax, Kieran is the youngest of the Fey, and the only child born since the Mage Wars. Despite his youth, he is an exceptionally strong master of Earth, Air, Spirit, and Fire, and a 4th level Talent in Water, and has completed all levels of the Dance of Knives, the grueling 400 years of training required for every Fey swordmaster before he can protect a Fey shei'dalin when she travels outside the Fading Lands.

Though his skills are impressive enough to earn him a place in the Fey queen's primary quintet, Kieran has never known war. He is the only Fey warrior whose soul is still bright and untarnished by death. But the Fey have a saying: only the hottest fires can temper the strongest Fey blades. The great gifts of the Fey come with an equally great price, and the gods will soon test the mettle of Kieran, son of the powerful Solande and Serranis lines.
