Recommend Me A Book! #tbrchallenge

The theme for this month's TBR Challenge is reader recommendation, which could very well represent most of the books on my TBR shelf. I've come up with three books that have been on my tbr shelves for ages--five years or more and now I'm asking you which one you think I should read and why? Feel free to choose either your favorite or the one you'd most like to hear about. The book with the most "reader recommendations" is the one I'll read and review for this month's #tbrchallenge that goes up on February 20th. Please leave your vote in the comments below by February 12th.

I can't wait to see which book you all choose for me!

Book blurbs:

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt [2006]

The Earl of Swartingham is in a quandary. Having frightened off two secretaries, Edward de Raaf needs someone who can withstand his bad temper and boorish behavior.

And find employment.

When Anna becomes the earl's secretary, it would seem that both their problems are solved. Then she discovers he plans to visit the most notorious brothel in London for his "manly" needs. Well! Anna sees red—and decides to assuage her "womanly" desires...with the earl as her unknowing lover.

Dock Five Universe, #1
Sci-fi Romance

But when she kills a brutal guard in an act of self-defense, someone even more dangerous emerges from the shadows.

Gabriel Sullivan–alpha mercenary, smuggler, and rogue–is supposed to be dead. Yet now this seductive ghost from Chaz’s past is offering her a ticket to freedom–for a price. Someone in the Empire is secretly breeding jukors: vicious and uncontrollable killing machines that have long been outlawed. Gabriel needs Chaz to help him stop the practice before it decimates Imperial space. The mission means putting their lives on the line–but the tensions that heat up between them may be the riskiest part of all.

Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins [2006]

Sure, he needs a friend after being dumped by Millie's fortune-hunting sister, but does she really need to enjoy his company that much? He is definitely "not" part of her master plan. But maybe it's time for Millie to start a new list...

  1. You need to read the Raven Prince. Need to. It's my absolute favorite Hoyt book to date, and I've read them all. It's clever and it's passionate.

I actually reviewed it (I know!), if it helps you make a decision: http://donttalkjustread.blogspot.com/2009/08/re-read-challenge-raven-prince-by.html

  2. Hmm. I'd like to hear what you thought of each one of those. I actually came home from the library with THE RAVEN PRINCE yesterday because I'd heard good things!

I really enjoyed both GABRIEL'S GHOST and FOOLS RUSH IN.

  4. Yes, Raven Prince is a great book, but Gabriel's Ghost! So sigh-worthy.

  5. The Raven Prince - because I also haven't read it and it's also been in my TBR for ages - LOL.

I need to nail down my own read. I'm thinking a western - just need to decide which one. Maybe something that KristieJ recommended? That would make her happy and give her one less book to harp on me about :)

  6. So far THE RAVEN PRINCE is the clear leader and from such trustworthy sources, too! Thanks, all, for chiming in! :)

  8. Oh, DEFINITELY Gabriel's Ghost! I'm a total Linnea Sinclair fan-girl so I'm biased :D but seriously, this is a "must read". It's one of my top reads by her. Raven Prince is good too and it's my 2nd choice. I haven't read Fools Rush In. ;)

  9. The Raven Prince! It was so lovely :) I think Gabriel's Ghost could be lovely, too, but somehow I wasn't able to finish it. Maybe someday... It's still sitting there in my bookshelf.

  10. I'd go with Gabriel's Ghost because I haven't read the other so I don't know them. Oh and I'm going to comment about Linnea Sinclair's book too in my blog because I've just read it! Two books ago :)

  11. Ooh, hard choice between Gabriel's Ghost and Fools Rush In. I haven't read the Hoyt book so can't suggest it. I can tell you that I adore Linnea Sinclair's books, not sure I would suggest Gabriel's Ghost as the first one to read as it is part of a couple more. And Fools Rush In is a cute intro to Kristan Higgins.

  13. You have TWO of my favorite books EVAH up there! Gabriel's Ghost by Sinclair and The Raven Prince by Hoyt!!! Take a pick, you can't loose, Christine. It's a matter of what you feel like reading... a great, awesome, out of this world sci fi romance with the awesome 'kick ass' Chaz, or the amazing Raven Prince! God, I LOVE THAT BOOK! I've re-read it countless times. Sigh...

  15. I'm so glad I asked your opinions on these books!

    THE RAVEN PRINCE: 8
    GABRIEL'S GHOST: 3
    FOOL'S RUSH IN: 1

I didn't count Hilcia's vote because she essentially voted for BOTH The Raven Prince and Gabriel's Ghost. However, if there is a tie that needs to be broken, I will make her do it. LOL!

  16. I am with everyone on The Raven Prince but not because I've read it. Purely because I've heard really good things about this author and want to try her myself :P

  17. I've only read The Raven Prince and I enjoyed that, so I was going to vote for that, but it sounds like you've already decided :)

    Happy reading!

  18. Just in case you all haven't figured it out yet... THE RAVEN PRINCE by Elizabeth Hoyt won with 10 VOTES!

I'll probably read GABRIEL'S GHOST for the New-to-Me Author theme and will eventually read FOOLS RUSH IN. I've read nearly all of Higgins other books, so I'll eventually get to this one.

Now if I could just find time to actually READ.. I'd be all set!!!!

Thank you all for taking the time to recommend a book to me this month! :)
