So, in case YOU are actually the last person to know about Lisa's upcoming novel, here's the scoop:
Lisa Kleypas' NEW contemporary romance novel titled Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor releases on October 26, 2010!
ONE LITTLE GIRL NEEDS A FAMILY
One rain-slicked night, six-year-old Holly lost the only parent she knew, her beloved mother Victoria. And since that night, she has never again spoken a word.
ONE SINGLE MAN NEEDS A WIFE
The last thing Mark Nolan needs is a six-year-old girl in his life. But he soon realizes that he will do everything he can to make her life whole again. His sister’s will gives him the instructions: There’s no other choice but you. Just start by loving her. The rest will follow.
SOMETIMES, IT TAKES A LITTLE MAGIC…
Maggie Collins doesn’t dare believe in love again, after losing her husband of one year. But she does believe in the magic of imagination. As the owner of a toy shop, she lives what she loves. And when she meets Holly Nolan, she sees a little girl in desperate need of a little magic.
…TO MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE
Three lonely people. Three lives at the crossroads. Three people who are about to discover that Christmas is the time of year when anything is possible, and when wishes have a way of finding the path home…
The story sounds a little heartbreaking, yet full of hope and there just has to be a sweet happily ever after in there, too!
Isn't that a really pretty cover, too? The twinkling lights on the stays of the sailboats and on the houses across the harbor, the snow covered mountains in the background ... all just enough sparkle to invoke a holiday feeling. Very pretty.
I'm pretty excited about the upcoming release of Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor. I will always have a special affection for Lisa's Travis Family contemporaries... Sugar Daddy, Blue-Eyed Devil and Smooth Talking Stranger, and how I would love to be able to name a fourth book for Joe Travis, but alas, at this point I don't think that's in the works. Now I'm excited to discover some more favorites in this upcoming contemporary series by Lisa Kleypas.

Uh yeah! I loves, loves, loves me some Lisa K! I'm trying not to think too much about the new book, that way I don't get too excited! But I can't wait to have this book in my hands! :)
ReplyDeleteFavorite LK Historical: Again the Magic
Favorite LK Contemporary: Smooth Talking Stranger (as you well know, Jack Travis stealer! ;oP)
You know what? I have to take back the Jack Travis stealer accusation! That was Tracy! SHE'S the Jack Travis stealer! ;o)
ReplyDeleteWow - a pic on her site? Sah-weet! And a great pic as well :)
ReplyDeleteFavorite historical: Worth Any Price (oh, how I love me some Nick Gentry!)
Favorite contemp: I have to admit, I really dislike 1st person, so had a tough time with them. That being said, Blue-Eyed Devil was such a powerful story.
Love Lisa Kleypas. Seems like I've been reading her forever.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Historical - count me in as another Nick fan. Love him and Lottie in Worth Any Price. My youngest just happens to be named Nick. :)
Favorite Contemporary - Blue Eyed Devil. I like her contemporaries but prefer her historicals.
I resisted trying her contemporary voice for a couple of years. When I finally broke down and read Sugar Daddy I was hooked. She made me FEEL what it might be like to live in a Texas trailer park. I love that book. I wasn't so fond of the Hathaway series--they were good, but not great. When it comes to a favorite historical, I'm with Kristie J. all the way--nobody but Derek Craven.
ReplyDeleteLove, love LOVE LK! I think she's an amazing author and I can't wait for her new release. My favorite historical is either Dreaming of You or Suddenly You although I do have a love for Where Dreams Begin, also Simon Hunt's book and Matthew Swift's book. Love all of those books.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite contemporary is Jack's book, Smooth Talking Stranger. LOVE IT and LOVE HIM!
You're so lucky to have met her and have your photo displayed on her website, you lucky girl!
Your photo on her website!? So awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI discovered her historicals first, then tried her contemporaries. I love both!
Favorite historical: Dreaming of You
Favorite contemporary: Smooth-Talking Stranger (or Blue-Eyed Devil)
Kati...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about trying not to set your expectations too high when it comes to new books from favorite authors. I try to do that too... but usually fail. LOL!
Tracy is guilty as charged!
Lori...
I was beside myself when that pic when up on her site. It was very exciting. It still is! :D
I think 1st person POV is tough for a lot of readers.
Leslie...
Would you believe Sugar Daddy was my first LK novel? And I only bought and read it because LK was coming to my local B&N that year!!! Crazy, huh?
And another vote for Worth Any Price!
Phyl...
She made me FEEL what it might be like to live in a Texas trailer park.
YES! Liberty's life felt so very real to me in this book, too. Very gripping.
Derek Craven is from Devil In Winter? You'll have to forgive me. I've only read ONE LK historical so far... but I have the Wallflower books and a few of the Hathaway's, I think.
Rowena...
Taking note of your favorites... Okay, so you like them all!!! LOL!
I think we can all agree that Jack was very smooth in Smooth Talking Stranger, yes?
I love having my photo with Lisa Kleypas on her website. My heart will break when she takes it down. LOL!
Maija...
Another vote for Dreaming of You! I need to glom her backlist!
Dreaming of You is the one with Derek Craven. You MUST read it, says I!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll admit. I've never read one of her contemporary's. (And the last historical I read was years ago.) This one sounds really good, though. And like something I would read. I'll keep a look out for it.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a fantastic day!
Oh! So that's the three votes for Dreaming of You! I think I just might need to do a self imposed Lisa Kleypas historical romance challenge for 2011....
ReplyDeleteBrandy, you should look for Sugar Daddy at the library! I think you might like it.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be reading Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor soon, so I'll let you know how it is!
Please do try Dreaming of You. It was so lovely! Also that Devil in Winter was to my liking. I think it's my second favorite. But oh well, I've loved all of the books I've read from her.
ReplyDeleteYes, Dreaming of You for historical. Followed closely by Suddenly You and The Devil in Winter.
ReplyDeleteMy all-time favorite contemp is Sugar Daddy. LOVE that book!
I've already got Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor on request at the library. I'm #38, and I requested it over a month ago! lol
Hi Christine
ReplyDeleteI HATE first person POV but Juliana Stone convinced me to read LK's contemps. Thankfully they were all in print because I devoured them back to back. They were incredible. So many little wisdoms that I wish I'd marked with sticky notes. Can't pick a fave though.
Kristie J did say to read Dreaming Of You first so I'm going to listen to her LOL.
So, in case YOU are actually the last person to know about Lisa's upcoming novel...
ReplyDeleteAhhh, yes. I didn't know about this release at all! Umm. Favourite contemporary romance by LK would have to be BED - no contest. Favourite historical romance? The Devil in Winter followed closely by Mine Till Midnight. I love that LK has heroines of all different shapes and sizes!
OOPS! Hit 'Publish You Comment' too quickly! I also love the heroes in those historicals :)
ReplyDeleteI am pissed tho that the new one is a hardcover & is $19.50 at Chapters, $14.08 if you buy on-line. Can't snuggle wth a hardcover.
ReplyDeleteMaija...
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be reading Dreaming of You. I promise! :)
Renee...
I LOVE Sugar Daddy, too. It's a very memorable story.
You must have a busy library that there's 38 holds for a book that hasn't even come out yet!!!
Mary ...
That's great that you pushed yourself out of your no-first person POV zone to read LK's contemps! I'm glad you liked them so much!
We should read Dreaming of You at the same time so we can discuss it. Especially since it's pretty apparent that we might be the last ones left on the planet to read it! LOL!
OUCH! About the price of Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor!! It's not a very long book, either, so you may want to hold out for the mass market or borrow from the library. Or a friend...
orannia...
Well, I'm glad to have informed you of this LK pending release, then! ; )
Ahh, the first mention of Mine Till Midnight as a favorite. I think at the time I went to LK's signing in 2007, she was just working on that book and people were asking her about it, very excited about that main character getting a book.
I also wanted to mention that Sugar Daddy is being offered at $2.99 in ebook form from several booksellers... amazon Kindle, Kobo (Borders?), B&N, Nook, iTunes and Sony right now, but for a limited time. Just in case anyone was interested in trying out a Lisa Kleypas contemporary.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Christine!! Awesome about the pic on her website!! :P
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds cute, but I'll have to see the reviews first :P
Favorite historical? Hmmm, I would say Love in the Afternoon actually, her latest :P
As for contemporary romance, I've only read one... so can't say.
