Once Upon A Time Reading Challenge COMPLETE!

Earlier this spring, I joined the Once Upon a Time IV Reading Challenge hosted by Carl from the blog Stainless Steel Droppings and am happy to report that I completed the challenge! The requirement was to read five fantasy, folklore, fairly tale or mythology novels between March 21, 2010 and June 20, 2010. I actually read eleven novels during that time frame that could meet the challenge criteria. In all honesty, however, the five novels below that I highlighted in brown are the novels that I think fit the theme of this challenge the best. They are also the books that I picked up with this challenge in mind.

1. Except the Queen by Jane Yolen and Midori Snyder
2. The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen
3. Mind Games by Carolyn Crane
4. The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
5. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
4. Beastly by Alex Flinn
7. When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
8. Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward
9. My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent
10. Lover Mine by J.R. Ward
11. Ballad by Maggie Steifvater

Writing reviews was optional for the challenge, and despite the fact that the challenge is over, I'd still like to follow up with a few reviews over the next several days.

One reading challenge down... ELEVEN to go.

  6. Thanks everyone! ... and you all thought I went overboard with my challenges.... HA!

Gee, Taja, thanks so much for the luck on writing those reviews. What? You think I need luck? .... ugh. I do. :P

Dana, you are in luck! I have already started writing a review for Except the Queen. I loved it, by the way. :)

  7. Congrats on completing the challenge. How are you doing on the J.D. Robb challenge?

  8. Hi Dru :)
I am happily plugging along in the J.D. Robb challenge. I have kept up with reading one book per month since I started and well... there's a lot! LOL. I had read the first four books a couple of years ago, so started in January with the fifth book and am reading Witness In Death this month. Right now actually...

It's a great series, isn't it? Very solid.

I believe I've gathered from your comments on Brandy's blog that you're all caught up?

  10. Congrats Christine!!

    Woohoo! Give me a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-N-E!!!

LOL, out of curiosity, was finishing this challenge part of your 1001 challenge? :P

I'm definitively looking forward to your reviews :D Especially Silver Borne!

  11. Hi nath! :)
Thanks for the cheer! I love your enthusiasm. ^_^

Actually, completing this challenge was NOT one of my 101 things to do in 1001 days challenge. Darn. I should have included it. LOL!

Oh don't be mad, but I actually wasn't planning on reviewing Silver Borne.... I reviewed Moon Called ages ago (June 2008) and never reviewed the rest of them and now it's just so hard to put my fangirl thoughts into something coherent that does the book justice, you know? Maybe I'll do some rereading and reviewing of the series at some point. I really should...

  12. Only 11 to go! Congrats!

Any YA in there other than Beastly?

  13. Thanks, Leslie!
Do you mean am I going to do more reviews from that list that are YA other than Beastly? If so, then yes! I plan on reviewing My Soul to Save and Ballad. :)

  14. LOL, it's okay :) I'm not going to get mad... but tell me, did you like it? Did you not like it?

  15. Thanks, Michelle! :)

nath... It's Mercy. What's not to love? ;)
Seriously, though, I really loved Silver Bourne. I know a lot of people felt it was part Sam's book... and it kind of was... but I didn't mind that at all because it was also every bit as much as Mercy's. I can't wait for more. :)
