I appreciate all the chat about which book and characters are your favorites. It gives me a lot to look forward to as I discover them for myself!

Simon and Annabelle are really great characters--as individuals and as a couple. Simon was so patient and just smart. It wasn't until I finished the book, really that I appreciated him. He never tried to change Annabelle or teach her a lesson, when so many times I thought he could or should have. And in the end, the fact that Annabelle figured things out for herself, wised up to her prejudices, and became a better person for it made me admire her and Simon so much more.

I love Taja's insight in her comment above where she said, "Annabelle's development seemed like a comment on industrialization and the accompanying change of view of class and status." Good stuff, Taja!

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series ... right through the series that spins off this one. The one that starts with Mine Till Midnight. Errr... that series does come after this one, right? Right?Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-38043719207061791052009-04-17T14:49:00.000-04:002009-04-17T14:49:00.000-04:00Hi Christine, very nice review. :D

Together with Simon and the other Wallflowers, this was my favorite part of the novel.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the other novels. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-67033841803424803892009-04-17T02:57:00.000-04:002009-04-17T02:57:00.000-04:00Oh I liked this one so much. Over the years since these first came out it has been interesting to see that different people had different favorites. This one was my favorite because Annabelle had to overcome her prejudices to accept Simon for who he was.Phylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14665665401551658932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-18921313496716976342009-04-16T08:50:00.000-04:002009-04-16T08:50:00.000-04:00My favorite was Devil in Winter I loved that one! ...My favorite was Devil in Winter I loved that one!
