I don't usually read her myself because I tend to do J.D. Robb and she's my top read author! Quite coincidental? haha. I admit I pretty much ignore the ones about sports training since I keep my exercise pretty basic (although I am faithful about it). I also subscribe to his blog in my reader.

Since you like cookbooks so much, let me recommend Paleo Comfort Foods : Homestyle Cooking for a Gluten-Free Kitchen by Julie & Charles Mayfield. It has lots and lots of pictures and a helpful introduction about basic foods a paleo kitchen should stock. The chicken & grape salad is seriously good. We've also liked the cole slaw, jambalaya, and the chicken breast with mushroom sauce.

OK, I'll stop hijacking your library loot thread now. Go read The Witness :)Phylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14665665401551658932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-56720842265546224212012-06-29T15:19:50.651-04:002012-06-29T15:19:50.651-04:00Brandy ... If your library doesn't have Wheat ...Brandy ... If your library doesn't have Wheat Belly, you should ask them to order it for you. You'd be surprised how willing libraries are to fulfill book requests.

Going wheat free [or gluten free] is a tough lifestyle change, but from what I've read from a lot of sources in the last six months or so, it's a smart one AND not as bad as you think once you get into it. Like any major lifestyle change, I think it takes 4-8 weeks to really get into a groove. I won't say those 4-8 weeks aren't challenging.. but if you think about it, it's not such a terrible thing to endure for a relatively short period of time when you're talking your health and long term well being. Now if I could just practice what I preach ...

Are you caught up on that Karen Rose series? I know several bloggers who LOVE it. Am thinking of doing a challenge with that one once I'm caught up in the In Death series.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend, too! :DChristinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-28277383434453996222012-06-29T14:34:05.665-04:002012-06-29T14:34:05.665-04:00Hmm, I've been slowly trying to get hubs to ac...Hmm, I've been slowly trying to get hubs to accept possibly going gluten free, or at lease cutting more of it out of our lives. Maybe this book would help!
Right now I'm reading No One Left To Tell by Karen Rose. (And after that I actually have a TBR pile. First one EVER. God Bless the library.)
I read The Witness. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

Blessings for a wonderful weekend!Brandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02738504696243512495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-45127415736142379872012-06-29T14:25:44.941-04:002012-06-29T14:25:44.941-04:00Phyl, just a few minutes ago I got an email newsle...Phyl, just a few minutes ago I got an email newsletter for triathlon training about triathlon or endurance sport training while on low/no carb or paleo diets. It links to a podcast by Robb Wolf. How's that for coincidence? I haven't listened to it yet, but I will. Especially because one of my concerns about going no/low carb is how to fuel my workouts... particularly on days when I bike for 2-7 hours.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-78292427986683966812012-06-28T15:58:26.546-04:002012-06-28T15:58:26.546-04:00That's a fantastic improvement to your health,...That's a fantastic improvement to your health, Phyl. I'm trying to go paleo. I've eliminated wheat 100% and avoid beans and other grains. I'll eat a little potato and sometimes a little corn. Otherwise it's all veggies, fruit, and meat. Joint inflammation is way, way down and my blood sugar is nice and stable (I'm pre-diabetic).
