I'm glad you're enjoying the series so much!

Maija, sorry you had to leave the cottage for a few days, but at least your husband can tag more days onto the end so you'll still have all that time on holiday. Your weather sounds really nice to tell the truth. Don't be fooled... it's not always 30 days of straight sunshine here either. We have a lot of cloudy or overcast days in New Jersey. I think only states like Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and California get all those glorious sunny days. And they don't get the humidity like other more eastern states do. Ugh. It's the high humidity that can zap the joy out of sunny days in New Jersey.

Enjoy your holiday AND those ID books! :)Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-70105439519182856832010-07-09T04:10:36.403-04:002010-07-09T04:10:36.403-04:00Christine,
lately we've been having nearly +3...Christine,

lately we've been having nearly +30 °C (86 °F), but that isn't normal. The next week is predicted to be ever hotter - yikes! Usually already +20 °C (68 °F) is pretty good too. Finnish summer isn't full of sunshine - so no 30 days of straight sunshine for us. Sometimes we have great weather, the next day it can rain and be really cold.

A little change in holiday plans. We started our holiday already, but had to come back, because husband had to go to office for a couple of days. Well, it doesn't matter. He can keep a couple of extra days off at the end of the holiday. We'll be heading back to Central Finland this weekend. Hopefully those ID stories I ordered will be waiting for me :) See you later! And hang in there, you seem to be having even bigger heat wave than us.Maijahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10488447744786260828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-73854895813070878832010-07-08T14:48:19.117-04:002010-07-08T14:48:19.117-04:00I know technically this is July, but I want to try...I know technically this is July, but I want to try and catch up, so I'm going to read #3 and try to get #4 in too, so i wanted to put my review of book 2 into June's post :) I am loving this series! Eve and Roarke have me so engrossed, and the great mysteries are fantastic. Awesome series.

Paula
Tomes DevoteePaula Calvanicohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071152704222978446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-2522909122848533422010-07-05T21:07:02.431-04:002010-07-05T21:07:02.431-04:00Sorry for the late response again to all of your c...Sorry for the late response again to all of your comments. I finally finished Witness In Death a few days ago. July's already looking like another slow reading month. I couldn't tell you what the heck I've been doing that's kept me from reading, but there you have it.

I mostly spoke of the Eve & Peabody relationship dynamic in my post because their's obviously gets a lot of page time as Lieutenant and aide, but I should also mention Eve's relationship with Nadine, Mira and Mavis. They're all such different relationships, and I'm glad to see they're becoming more and more important to Eve, but it's so much fun watching her fumble along trying to do the right thing. She tries to keep her distance, but she can't help but care about these women.

Another comment I wanted to make has to do with the victim and the murderer and the last conversation Eve had with the murderer. I liked the way Eve handled the situation... I was both proud of and maybe a little relieved for her, too. Is that too vague? I don't want to give anything away to anyone who hasn't read this one yet.

Omgosh, Maija!!!! Look at all those ID books you read!!! I enjoyed reading your thoughts on each one. Nothing lower than a 4, too. Sounds promising.

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday. Relaxing at a summer cottage sounds so nice! Just how warm is a warm summer in Finland? 'See you' when you get back! :)Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-60449537259867882492010-07-01T15:44:08.236-04:002010-07-01T15:44:08.236-04:00Ps. Just to make...I read a lot of ID novels this month! Just to make up the previous few months in spring when I didn't read any ;)

Here are my very short thoughts...

Judgment in Death (grade 5- out of 5)
--Usually I like the relationship part a bit more than the murder mystery. In this case I happened to really love both aspects of the story.

Betrayal in Death (grade 4+ out of 5)
--The murder mystery was quite nice. But it was the all the other small details I liked the best. Eve and Magda's conversation, Roarke's words to Mick about Eve…

Interlude in Death (grade 4- out of 5)
--This was a pretty okay short story. It was better than the previous short novel. I just wished that now that they were on a different planet, we would have seen something more… I don't know what, but… just something… :)

Seduction in Death (grade 4+ out of 5)
--A good story overall. Nothing too suspenseful, but still good. Sometimes it's just nice to sit back and see who the murderer/murderers are and how they are caught. Great relationship stuff also!

Reunion in Death (grade 4.5 out of 5)
--I liked that there was so much going on in this book. There wasn't only the murder mystery to solve, but many different things to follow.

Can't wait to get my hands on the next books! Unluckily I don't have them yet and I'm really feeling the effects of not having my latest ID fix ;) But tomorrow I'm going to order a few books. My husband's summer holiday starts then and we are leaving to Central Finland (to visit family and other relatives, to relax at my parents' summer cottage etc). I have to order the books to my parents' address and hope that we are near there when the books arrive. We haven't made any certain holiday plans - we are just going to go with the flow and enjoy the warm summer :) I'll be back the next month!Maijahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10488447744786260828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-10133936679298173992010-06-30T19:13:08.783-04:002010-06-30T19:13:08.783-04:00As Lori said, you nailed it, Christine!

But, I didn't make any of my challenges this month. June went by too fast!

Dallas & Peabody's relationship is right up there w/Roarke & Eve as my favorite part of the series. I get a kick out of Dallas getting uncomfortable when Peabody talks about her & McNab's sex life. :)Lesliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12055116610295076439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3661609629555743722.post-38137163919146577852010-06-30T12:08:57.032-04:002010-06-30T12:08:57.032-04:00Christine, Eve and Peabody's developing relati...Christine, Eve and Peabody's developing relationship is one of the things that I look forward to reading about in this series. I'm definitely behind on the Challenge at this time, but hope to catch up in this next week.

I was definitely distracted this last week by hmm... new releases (hangs head in shame). It's one of the aspects of the books that I really enjoy - this woman who has never known friendship suddenly developing close bonds with other women. How she deals with it and manages it is so interesting. Add in the mentor/student/boss relationship and it's a big mess. I love how Peabody is always teasing Eve about how hot Roarke is and it never fails to get a rise, which just eggs her on even more.Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08250972350798310498noreply@blogger.com
