The 2014 Big Book Challenge
Host: orianna at Walkabout
Link: The 2014 Big Book Challenge
My Goal: Read at least one 500+ page book that I've been putting off because of it's length.
Time Frame: Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2014
I hate to make promises I can't keep but I'm going to try once again to read Anna Karenina this year. My copy has 838 pages.

Maria (my sister) finally finished Les Mis... it took her practically all year, but she plowed through. I'm sure you'll be able to do this one. I need to see what big books are out there that I want to read. I love this challenge, it's the only one I KNOW I can finish :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining! And WOW that's one BIG book!
ReplyDeleteMariana, I'm so impressed with your sister's dedication to read Les Mis! I know it's huge! I'm thinking I need to break Anna Karenina up and read it in pieces throughout the year. I learned from a friend that Tolstoy actually wrote it in separate parts--possibly even published separately. So I'll try to read it that way, too. Maybe it will help me get through it.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what big book you choose.. maybe I'll read it with you.
orannia, Oh you're welcome. Thanks for hosting the challenge again. xx
Some friends on instagram are trying to convince me to read The Outlander. What do you two think? [orianna and Mariana .. or anyone else who comes by and reads this. ]
ReplyDeleteI've read it, but it was a very long time ago. I liked it when I read it. Not sure if I'd like it now, but I think that's a reflection of how my tastes have changed :)
ReplyDeleteC, that was my pick. Many have recommended Outlander to me as well. I bought... it's somewhere in the house. I think I'll find it and try to read it again. I also have Anna Karenina. I think it's holding up my pc screen I haven't used in over a year. O.O
ReplyDeleteWould you try the audio for Anna K? I had the audio and book (the Oprah version) and this worked good. I was able to read or listen. I loved it. I listened to Outlander the summer we moved here, while getting organized. I wasn't a huge fan, the plot didn't move fast enough for me but I wonder how it reads vs listen. Did you finish? like? dislike?
ReplyDeleteWill we ever meet again my long lost friend? :)
